CHERYL D. CONKLING MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

HISTORY

Ms. Cheryl Conkling loved education and music. She excelled in them despite the physical hardships she suffered from gamma globulin anemia and hearing loss.  Ms. Conkling was a brilliant student and graduated Summa Cum Laude from college. This scholarship fund supports students with hearing or other physical hardships who have demonstrated a love for education.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Must live or attend school in either Windsor, Colorado; Conroe, Texas; Wilkinson County, Mississippi; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; or West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana

  • Must be enrolling full-time into an accredited university or college

  • Preference may be given to students with hearing or other physical impairments, students not receiving other substantial aid, and/or students in Louisiana

AWARD

The award is a four-year scholarship, payable $1,500 per semester for eight consecutive semesters, for a total award of $12,000.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Academic transcript from previous semester

  • ACT/SAT score report

  • Academic resume

  • Essay that details the applicant’s background, interests, and future plans
