THE JOLIE BERRY MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP

HISTORY

Baton Rouge lost a treasure of inestimable value on April 14, 2019. However, Jolie Berry lives on in our hearts and memories. Her touch and her influence linger across Baton Rouge in First Presbyterian Church, The Louisiana Arts and Science Museum, The Rural Life Museum, the Baton Rouge Opera League, the Baton Rouge Symphony Board and the Symphony League, the parish and state Medical Alliances, and the Foundation for Historical Louisiana.

For her tireless civic endeavors, the Baton Rouge Speech and Hearing Foundation (The Emerge Center) recognized her as a Volunteer Activist in 2005. While invigorating the many organizations who were fortunate enough to benefit from her leadership, she lived by the mantra of God first, family second, followed by everything else.

Jolie Berry lived her faith unabashedly. She served many organizations selflessly. She is known for her gracious hospitality and generosity, coupled with her razor sharp intellect. In spite of her myriad interests, she never neglected her family. Indeed, she was a supportive wife to Dr. Gene Berry and an extraordinary mother to their two children, Katherine and David.

Through her work as an advisor to the Phi Gamma Chapter of Chi Omega at Louisiana State University, Jolie Berry guided young women to live ethically, energetically, and enthusiastically. She has impacted the lives of countless young women. Indeed, the world is better because Jolie Berry left an indelible impression on all who knew her.
