AARON BERNARD MURRAY AND FAY TYLER MURRAY EDUCATION ENCOURAGEMENT AWARD

HISTORY

This scholarship was established by the Murray Family in 1998. It was created to reward students who demonstrate good citizenship and have a record of sound academic achievement. Baton Rouge Magnet High School faculty members can nominate graduating senior students who have shown leadership and initiative to help others within the school and community.

ELIGIBILITY

  • Baton Rouge Magnet High School seniors who have been nominated by a teacher or school administrator

  • Must be enrolling full-time into an accredited university or college

AWARD

The recipient will receive a one-time award of $750 and will be honored at Baton Rouge Magnet High School’s annual Honors Day Program.

REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

  • Most recent academic transcript

  • Academic resume

  • Letter of recommendation from the school’s principal, a guidance counselor, or a teacher

  • Essay: Please attach an essay one or two pages in length highlighting your leadership potential as displayed in extracurricular activities, community service, and other achievements or honors
