ORBIA EMPOWER SCHOLARSHIP

HISTORY

Orbia Fluorinated Solutions (also known as Koura) has been operating in St. Gabriel since 2010. In 2023 the company was awarded a federal grant to facilitate a significant expansion and transition to manufacturing materials used to build EV batteries.

In anticipation of new job opportunities related to the planned expansion, Orbia has developed a scholarship program that focuses on training and hiring residents of the surrounding communities, prioritizing residents who live closest to the operating site. It will help residents of disadvantaged and underserved communities of the region to develop new skills and enable them to pursue higher-paying careers by attending a local community college or local university.

ELIGIBILITY

• Must be a resident of East Baton Rouge, Ascension, or Iberville Parishes
